According to a product listing on Shopee, a saucepan-shaped phone case is, in fact, an actual thing now.
The phone case, which is shipped from China, is made of silicone and plastic. It’s available in sizes for a wide range of iPhone models: 12, 12 Pro, 12 Mini, 12 Pro Max, 11 Pro Max, X, XS, XS Max, XR, 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6, 6 Plus, 6S and 6S Plus. The listing also promises that the case will be “easy to put on and easy to take off”, protects your phone “from dust, scratching and shock”, and is “durable and washable” (like a saucepan? Hmm.)
No measurements were provided for the case, but from the photos, it appears to be of a size that could fry at least an egg in real life. Not that we recommend doing that, because your phone would be attached to the underside of the ‘saucepan’.
But if you’re rich enough to sacrifice your iPhone, you can place it face down and eat off the saucepan like a plate. Is anyone already thinking about how they're going to fit this thing into their bag, or risk looking like you shoplifted from a supermarket? We are also not sure how we could text on our phone when it's mounted on a saucepan, unless you're a boomer who types by poking at each letter individually.
The listing currently has a five-star rating. A Shopee customer who bought a saucepan phone case left a satisfied review that says: “It’s fits [sic] perfectly so your phone will not drop out and it’s hard and sturdy too!! Accidentally dropped my phone with it on once and didn’t find any scratch marks or cracks”.We are just waiting for someone to come up with an iPad chopping board.Get the saucepan iPhone case here.Photos: Shopee
